In May 2023, I consulted as a textile expert for a training workshop in Lap loom/tapestry weaving conducted by WWF India as part of their Marine Conservation program in Ghost Gear Upcycling. The skill development workshop of 15 days was given to 30 women and in the coastal town of Poompuhar, Tamil Nadu from the fisher community with the aim of providing alternative livelihood opportunities.
Teaching weaving was a very enriching experience. The workshop was also conducted in the island of Rameshwaram, Tamil Nadu.
